RE: Firefox either slow or not responding at all

Wagonmaster2, which version of FF are you running? Are you running any extensions like NoScript or AdBlock? Have you checked to make sure you have the lastest FF and Extensions? Does the same behavior take place when you run IE?
In FF you may want to go to the Tools Menu then click Clear Private data, clear everything except Cookies and Passwords, restart and see if that helps.
Also, have you rebooted Windows recently? If not, try that first.

RE: My Hard Drive Failure...Thanks Time Machine!

mammy - its a Mac thing, not sure if the PC has something similar, probably something close though.
I use a small utility called TimeMachineEditor to change the back up schedule as I don't need the hourly back up.

RE: My Hard Drive Failure...Thanks Time Machine!

Good to hear it worked, I've been very happy with how Time Machine operates and its saved my bacon a couple times with individual file recoveries... thankfully so far no major HD crashes though! Glad your back up and running!

RE: Cannot view a video...

Which browser and version are you using?
You downloaded the update, but did you install it? Try going to adobe.com and click on the "Get Adobe Flash Player" button on the right side and follow the directions to download and install.

RE: Looking for victims of theft

FYI Stan's request has been approved by the Administration of RV.net
I appreciate Stan checking with us/them before posting. If you can help out or know of somebody send him a PM ~ anything we can do to improve security through better knowledge can only help everyone in the long run.

RE: Brighter interior light bulbs???

Since we boondock most of the time anything I can do to extend the batteries is helpful. I went through and pulled 1 of the 2 bulbs out of each fixture, which helped. But I really wanted more light so I started looking at LEDs as way to save power and increase the light. For the most part what I found was the lumen of the LED lights was reduced to much to be helpful (I haven't checked all of them). After a lot of comparison and doing some cost benefit consideration I ruled out the LED, the Fluorescent ones are about the best way to go or just add more battery power and use what you have.
As somebody already mentioned though, if the trailer lights are dim there maybe other factors that are not bulb related.

RE: Best for storing photos?

OP... I would be more inclined to trust a CD/DVD then one of the small USB memory sticks, with that said I've never had a memory stick fail but I do know others that have. When I burn my photos to a DVD I burn 2 copies, test them both on the burning machine and one other to verify the data is complete. I also back up everything to an external HD (Time Machine). One of the DVDs is stored in our safe deposit box. I also copy my entire photo folder to another computer about 4 times a year. Overkill? Probably, but better safe they sorry.

RE: Copilot 11

I've used Streets & Trips, Street Atlas and tried Co-Pilot. Of the three I found using Co-Pilot to be the most difficult to use and to learn. I'm glad that I bought a version that was about to be replaced and thus was only about $30. I would like to have had the low clearance information, but I prefer using Street Atlas for my routing.

RE: Smooth ride

Capt, my wife has been having some issues too. Still riding but I'm concerned that she may opt to sit out if we find any relation to her shoulders and the ATVs. Last trip out I mentioned the idea of a RZR (ok I'll admit I would enjoy it too). I think the setup can be such to allow for the best off road ride and sitting low enough so that you don't risk a roll over. The newer ones are a bit wider and probably more stable for her too.

RE: Mac database

I like Open Office for a lot of things, however not for a Database. For the Mac the best one out there is Bento by FileMaker it runs $49. I suppose you can give the OO free one a try, but I think Bento is the way to go personally.

RE: Memory cards & off brand batteries

If you are a Costco member, check with them on pricing for the cards. I was able to pick up a SanDisk Extreme III for a great price for my Canon.

RE: Extreme RV warranty work???

Unless you have any type of extended warranty you are now on your own. The good news is now any dealer can help you out, the bad news is you're going to foot the bill for any work.

RE: Permits for Utah and Colorado

EDS_5_OH - I emailed the Utah ATV folks last week to see if my kids would need a hands on course before going again. Since we rode in 2007 and took the written test I assumed they would need to test again. However I was told that all I needed to do was to tell them the dates we were going, send $10/child along with the forum and they would issue a temporary permit. So though I couldn't find any information on the out of state testing for youth, it appears that is still an option. This requires only the written test for out of state visitors/riders, not the hands on. I'd give them a call at 1-800-648-7433, ext. 2 to verify things - nice folks to deal with I've found.

RE: Selling Weekend Warrior

This link may help, it should take you to the NADA page for your WW. However what they state may not be any good with the economy the way it is. You may need to go to a dealer to see what they would give you too.

RE: Rear-ender - Right in the hitch

Dave all the above posts are great, however, they miss the opportunity. This is the perfect time for a new truck. The old one is now damaged goods, safety has been compromised and its reputation tarnished. If your wife won't go for it, then knock out the tail lights... that should do the trick!
